Victims, Survivors, and Overcomers

"A victim is a person who needs to be rescued" (the-wellhouse.org).

Currently, an approximated 27 million people are in modern-day slavery (human trafficking). While slavery is nothing new, it is inherently evil. Human trafficking essentially, and so many times all too successfully, strips people of their identity. When the traffickers capture slaves and strip them of their identity, the sense of worth soon follows. Slaves are literally stripped of everything (their family, their identity, and their worth) because of evil men and women in the world who serve money and not God (Matthew 6:24).

"A survivor is someone who has been rescued" (the-wellhouse.org).

Thankfully, some people are serving the right and Righteous Master. Currently, various organizations are fighting for freedom by raising awareness and money to rescue slaves. If you haven't yet, get involved and help raise your voice and raise awareness by joining the End It Movement www.enditmovement.com. I am freed by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9) because I fell short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Still, He didn't just free me, but gave me a purpose for living (Exodus 9:16) and my purpose is possible only because of His power (Acts 1:8).

"An overcomer is someone who has been healed" (the-wellhouse.org).

Thankfully, the Spirit of God is always alive and is stirring in the hearts of the people of God. I love how Tenth Avenue North puts the concept of healing in one of their songs:

This is where the healing begins
This is where the healing starts
When you come to where your broken within
The light meets the dark

The best part is, the lyrics to this song are founded in Scripture!

"He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds."
-Psalm 147:3
